هل تعود حاسة الشم بعد فقدانها بسبب الإصابة بكورونا؟

يصنف المتخصصون فقدان حاسم الشم كواحدة من الأعراض الرئيسية للإصابة بفيروس كورونا. وعدم قدرة البعض على استعادة تلك القدرة عقب مرور أشهر من التعافي يثير القلق. إلا أن دراسة فرنسية توصلت مؤخرا لنتائج "مبشرة"... ما هي؟

في الأيام الأولى من اكتشاف فيروس كورونا، أدرك العلماء أن الفقدان المفاجئ  هو أحد أعراض الإصابة الأساسية بالفيروس. واعتقد العلماء بالبداية أن "التهاب سطحي بالأعصاب" هو السبب في فقدان القدرة على الشم، وفقا لموقع ميدويب الطبي.

ولكن عدم قدرة البعض على استعادة حواسهم عقب مرور أشهر، أثارت قلق المتعافيين والأطباء، إلى أن توصلت دراسة فرنسية مؤخرا إلى أن أولئك الذين يفقدون حاسة الشم، بسبب إصابتهم بفيروس 19 من المرجح أن تعود القدرة على الشم إليهم مرة أخرى  خلال أشهر.  

وكان جميع المبحوثين قد فقدوا حاسة الشم لديهم لأكثر من سبعة أيام، كحد أدنى، عقب إصابتهم بفيروس كوفيد-19.

ووجدت الدراسة، التي تم إجرائها بمستشفيات جامعة ستراسبورغ، أنه لدى 49 من بين 51 شخصا جرى فحصهم، عادت حاسة الشم في غضون ثمانية أشهر. ولكن بعد مرور عام كامل، لا تزال  هناك  مشاكل  لدى شخصين من بين المفحوصين في التعرف على الرائحة. 

وتوصل فريق البحث، والمنشور حديثا على شبكة جاما المفتوحة النخصصة للأبحاث العلمية، إلى أن الإحساس بالرائحة عاد بالكامل في حوالي 84 % من المشاركين بعد أربعة أشهر فقط. بينما عادت حاسة الشم لدى 96 % من المتعافين من الفيروس، بعد مرور 12 شهرا.
