دراسة: الملقَحون ضد كورونا قد يحتاجون لجرعة ثالثة

توصلت دراسة أمريكية حديثة إلى أن فعالية لقاح فيروس كورونا في الولايات المتحدة قد انخفضت بمقدار الثلث، بمجرد أن أصبحت السلالة دلتا المهيمنة في البلاد.

وأظهرت الدراسة التي نشرت من قبل مراكز التحكم بالأمراض والوقاية انخفاض فعالية اللقاح ضد كورونا من حوالي 91% إلى 66%، بمجرد أن أصبح دلتا مهيمنة في الولايات المتحدة.

وكتب مؤلفو الدراسة أن هذا الانخفاض يشير إلى الطبيعة شديدة العدوى لمتغير دلتا ويؤكد على أهمية التطعيم لمنع المرض الشديد ودخول المستشفى والوفاة.

وخلصت دراسة بريطانية مستقلة الأسبوع الماضي إلى أن فاعلية لقاحي فايزر-بيونتك Pfizer–BioNTech وأسترازينيكا-أكسفورد Oxford–AstraZeneca ضد السلالة دلتا السائدة الآن ضعفت في غضون 3 أشهر، حيث انخفضت فعالية لقاح فايزر من 75% إلى 61%، وانخفضت فعالية لقاح أسترازينيكا من 85% إلى 68%.

 كل هذه المعطيات قد تشير 

ضرورة البدء بإعطاء جرعة معززة من لقاح كورنا، للتعامل مع انخفاض الفعالية مع الوقت، وأيضا مع سلالة دلتا شديدة العدوى.

وتعتزم بريطانيا وبلدان أوروبية أخرى بدء حملة تطعيم بجرعة تنشيطية ضد كوفيد-19 في وقت لاحق هذا العام، بعدما قال كبار المستشارين بشأن اللقاحات إن تطعيم كبار السن والفئات الأكثر عرضة للخطر بجرعة ثالثة ربما يكون ضروريا بدءا من سبتمبر/أيلول.
