إن التقنية الجديدة تم تطبيقها منذ سنوات في بعض دول الجوار، تحاول وزارة البترول و المعادن والطاقة MPME Mauritanie  عن طريق شركة الكهرباء (صوملك)من خلال هذه الميزة  أن توفر الإستخدام الغير مشروع للكهرباء و تحديد حجم الإستهلاك الكهربائي بدقة متناهية، ناهيك عن بعض المميزات الأخرى و من أهمها:

التخلص نهائيا من مشاكل الفواتير كما يتيح العداد الذكي التحكم فى الاستهلاك
و يضمن عداد الكهرباء الذكى للمشترك تركيب شريحتين خط محمول داخل العداد
و يتمتع المستهلك المستخدام للعداد الذكي بنفس أسعار الشرائح للعداد التقليدي.

حجم الاستهلاك: العداد القديم لن تعرف حجم استهلاكك إلا في نهاية كل شهر وقتَ تسديد الفاتورة، وقد تُفاجَأ بعدد الكيلوات المستهلكة أما مع العداد الذكي يمكِّنك من التحكم في استهلاكك.

كما أن لهذه التقنية إيجابياتها إلا أن سلبياتها أيضا موجودة فعلى سبيل المثال لا الحصر

فى حالة زيادة الاحمال عن الحد المسموح به للعداد  يتم فتح العداد لتغيير الوصلات يتم فصل التيار بشكل نهائى .
غير مسموح بنقل العداد الا عن طريق شركة الكهرباء و يتم ربط روزته عبارة عن مسمار بعد تركيب العداد لاول مره و عند قرب الانتهاء الرصيد يتم فصل التيار لاكثر من مره.

ولكن مع كل الدقة الآنفة الذكر في حجم الاستهلاك إلا أن سبل التشويش على هذه الميزة سهلة و متعددة .
