أول إعدام بإطلاق النار في الولايات المتحدة منذ 15 عاما

أعدمت السلطات بولاية ساوث كارولينا الأمريكية، رجلا بواسطة فرقة إطلاق النار، وهو أول سجين أمريكي يقتل بهذه الطريقة منذ 15 عاما.
وقالت السلطات في مؤتمر صحفي إنه تم إطلاق النار على براد سيغمون (67 عاما)، مساء الجمعة على يد ثلاثة موظفين متطوعين بالسجن من مسافة قريبة في سجن في كولومبيا، عاصمة ولاية ساوث كارولينا الأمريكية.

واختار سيغمون الذي تم ربطه على كرسي وتمت تغطية رأسه بغطاء أسود، أن يتم تنفيذ حكم الإعدام بحقه بواسطة فرقة إطلاق النار بدلا من الحقنة المميتة، مشيرا إلى "عدم الثقة في الحقنة المميتة"، وفقا لمحاميه.

وأوضح المحامي لشبكة "جرينفيل نيوز" أن سيغمون كان يخشى من أن تسبب الحقنة معاناة طويلة.

وكانت المحكمة العليا الأمريكية قد رفضت في وقت سابق من يوم الجمعة طلبا من محامي سيغمون لوقف الإعدام.

وكان سيغمون قد أدين في عام 2001 بتهمة القتل الوحشي لوالدي صديقته السابقة بمضرب بيسبول في منزلهما.
